Crisscross

I went to Crisscross with Madoka on 4th Jan. The morning is very  cold, but we enjoyed breakfast there!!

Restaurant Review Crisscross

There is Crisscross between Omotesando and Aoyama University. We walk about 2 minutes from Omotesando station and then arrive there. It’s convenient to go, but it doesn’t have parking area. So you should take trains when you go there. In this area, three shops line up, Breadworks, Crisscross and CICADA. Crisscross is middle one.

The café is small and very cozy space. Lights color is warm and dim. There are brick walls at the entrance. Other walls are white and floor is made of wood.

There are a lot of wood furniture and warm
atmosphere. Flowers are put on each table.
The café is small and very cozy. So customers can relax there. There is a terrace, too and some people sit there on the day. Kitchen is next to customers spaces and we can see works of staffs and chefs sitting chairs. Staffs are friendly and kind. They looked customers well and moved as occasion may demand.

This café gives us breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We went eating breakfast because I can’t fit my schedule to my partner in lunch time and dinner time. We can eat breakfast from 8:00 am to 10:45 am. Aoyama University students can eat breakfast there before first and second period! I recommend you sometimes have an enough time for a breakfast because a breakfast is very important for us and you need to afford to take such time.

           We ordered buttermilk pancakes with whipped butter & maple syrup (700 yen) and hot tea (200 yen). It is simple pancakes and proper quantity. It may be easy to eat for people who don’t want eat a lot of foods in a morning. Other menus are raisin walnut cinnamon French toast (740 yen), wheat bread toast (400 yen), homemade granola with fresh fruit, yogurt and Acacia honey (750 yen) and so on. All menus look delicious! I want to eat!!

Review and Genre Analyses

“The pleasures of pasta at cozy Corretto” by Providence Cicero
<http://seattletimes.com/html/restaurants/2025158651_correttoreview05xml.html>

<The opinion of the reviewer might be reflected in the title of the review>
The writer says “every neighborhood should have a cozy Italian joint like Corretto on Capitol Hill. Corretto is a place where people can use as restaurant and café.

<Description of the physical surroundings>
A racy, red La Marzocco espresso machine is conspicuous behind the marble-topped bar of this Euro-styled cafe. The white-tiled bar back, the vintage black-and-white crest design of the wallpaper, the rusty old bicycle mounted on one wall and the collage of antique gilded mirrors, family photos and curios on the other, all contribute to the restaurant’s rakish, Bohemian charm.

<Explanation of the variety of foods and beverages that are on the menu >
The writer introduces Ravioli Norcina, Insalata Mista, Bruschetta Caprese c,Spanish chorizo, Bistecca and tiramisu in detail.

<Recommendation of the restaurant>
The kitchen’s output may have been erratic, but service was persistently cheerful and attentive, with flourishes like the fresh cheese grated over your pasta at the table. The personable staff seem genuinely to care about your good time. That alone should earn Corretto several loyalty points in the competitive Capitol Hill restaurant scene.

The author mainly writes about menu in detail. He doesn’t mention access, uniform of staffs and so on.

A Video Review

“Babu Indian and Sri Lankan Cuisine Restaurant Review”
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Teo1y61-ygc&list=PLdvoUeQE8m49P2W5Q7tcMYBKdPDsIc41N&index=5>

<What is focused on in the review?>
This video introduces “Babu”. Babu is Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine restaurant.

<How does it differ from the written review in presentation and content?>
In this video, reporter makes cuisine actually. He explains the cuisines including texture and tastes because they are minor for us and it’s difficult to imagine them.
He tells us HP of this restaurant.

<What features does it have in common with them?>
He mainly introduces cuisines. Both the writer and the reporter like each restaurants and recommend.

<What is revealed about the reviewer and the culture?>
In written review, there are dishes which use pasta because Corretto is Italian restaurant. In video review, customers eat dishes with only hands because they are Indian dishes.

It’s interesting that a reporter makes a cuisine with a chef because we can know how they are made and deepen knowledge about Indian foods. It makes easy to imagine smells, tastes, texture and so on.

Neverseconds!!!

 Hello! How are you?
 I had a cold after Aoyama Festival, so you should take care about your health.

 Today, I'm talking about "Neverseconds". This blog is written by Martha Payne.
She started this blog to improve school lunch in UK when she was 9 years old. She uploaded photos of school lunch and complained their problem. Many people responded to the blog and school lunch in UK is reviewed.

In this blog, we can compare with school lunch around the world. I thought Japanese one is high quality. This is a Japanese point we should be proud.

 I was surprised in power of internet. She is a child and doesn't have power of social influence. However, her positive active and brave move many adults and now she is one of the famous person all over the world. Internet makes it easier to cause revolution than long time ago. We are responsible for using internet or other media in effectively.

Thank you for reading. See you later!!

Analyzing a food blog

 Hi ! How are you doing? I'm fine but busy everyday because I have to prepare for Aoyama Festival.
 I belong to Royal Sounds Jazz Orchestra which is a club in AGU and I'm playing the saxophone there. I will perform at building No.9 in 11/1,11/2. If you have a time, please come to listening :D

Today, I analyzed "wattwurmnashi"(http://wattwurmnashi.com/). The blog introduce cafes or restaurants and watwurmnashi writes review. She often writes about sweets especially.

<Quality>
Photos are very beautiful and appetizing. Explanations and review about menu are detail, so I have more confidence in the blog rather than Taberlog. I think proportion of text to photo is proper. It's easy to see and we can refer to the blog when we want to go to a cafe.

<Usefulness>
Her evaluation includes good points and weak points. We can judge the cafe through some points.
Information about cafes or restaurants is useful, too.

<Visual attractiveness>
Photos make easy to understand explanations about sweets because she writes ingredients. They look delicious and make us hungry.

<Accessibility of the language>
This blog is written in English, French and Japanese. Many countries people can know cafes in other countries!

<How interesting is it to you personally?>
Wattwurmnashi writes not only good points but also severe comments. Moreover her explanations are detail, I can imagine the sweets more reality!! It's interesting for me.
